John Lennon Impersonator: Sadly there was no chance of meeting John Lennon but Marcus Cahill was a worthy substitute in that, not only did he look like John, but sang like the late great. We were stunned to find that Marcus had spent some time in Western Australia and struggled for regular work, he returned to Liverpool where he was snapped up and holds the record for the John Lennon show at the Cavern Club with 431 performances. He is definitely a world class performer with an eerie ability to reproduce the sound. |

Normie Rowe: In December 2011, Nearly Famous appeared as an opening act for the Normie Rowe Concert. The band were thrilled to meet the Australian icon and appreciated his friendliness and warmth. Normie later presented the band with one of the show posters on which he had written his appreciation for their support on the night.. |
Sir Cliff Richard: As we mentioned in our “about us” page, we were thrilled to meet the famous Sir Cliff Richard given that the band was named after one of his 1970’s albums. His discography speaks for itself and he remains a firm favourite in our minds. |
Hollywood Bowl: Wido’s boyhood idols played this venue back in the 60’s. This is the closest we got to performing there, and the authorities didn’t throw us off the stage..we simply left when the tour bus operator told us to board the bus!! |
Jim Morrison’s Grave:^^One of the 60’s iconic symbols-the late Jim Morrison lies buried in the Pere Lachase cemetery where his grave is still visited by many people. |
Haight Asbury:^^This was the “centre of the universe” in the 1967 Hippie era when the world’s music lovers focused on San Francisco. The corner of Haight and Ashbury in the 21st century was seedy and rundown with few indications of it’s influence on the world pop music culture. |
The Cavern Liverpool: We soaked up the history of this famous spot where boyhood idols, The Beatles and countless other 60’s bands whose music we have played performed at the Cavern. The atmosphere was just amazing and the accompanying tour through the landmarks associated with the Beatles was just wonderful. |
Sir Garfield Sobers: He played the cricket bat better than Wido would ever play guitar!! He remains a legend of the game and when we met him in Barbados in 2004, we enjoyed some meaningful discussions. We really enjoyed his friendliness and wonderful sense of humour. |
Really Famous?? Whilst we are only “Nearly Famous”, this page acknowledges some of the “Really Famous” people we have met in our journey through life as well as famous venues we have visited. Just how famous each one is can only be subjective assessment, but…. we think they are pretty special… enjoy!! |

Freddie Mercury: Wonderful statue of the late singer from Queen who spent the last years of his life in Montreux, Switzerland. |
Though not jazz fans, we could not go past this lakeside stage used at the annual Montreux Jazz festival in Switzerland. We looked out for smoke on the water on the Lake Geneva shoreline.. |
