Alison Mitchell
Alison Mitchell commenced her musical career in the United Kingdom and by the tender age of thirteen years, was performing in restaurants and providing the piano music for ballet classes in her local home town in Yorkshire. The daughter of highly successful keyboard musician Denis Rumble (who provided musical backing for stars such as Vera Lynn Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Val Doonican and others), Alison’s talents were nurtured from an early age.
Arriving in Australia in the early 1980’s, she joined a number of commercial hotel acts such as “MI5” and the “Prefects” before forming other successful acts such as “Double Vision” and “3rd Avenue”. Her musical work in those bands saw her undertake successful tours throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
In addition to her NEARLY FAMOUS experience, Alison has studied at the West Australian Conservatorium of Music. She reads music fluently, and her diverse musical tastes have resulted in a passion for classical music as well as her popular music interests.
Alison has been a foundation member of Nearly Famous since its inception in 1992 and her natural ability and musical inclination has been a significant factor in the band’s success. Her cutting edge vocal delivery is exceptional, and with her ability to deliver all styles is considered one of Perth’s finest female vocalists. |
