WHY "NEARLY FAMOUS"? In 1976, popular music legend Cliff Richard released one of his more enduring songs "Devil Woman". This was featured on the subsequent LP (long playing) record titled "I'm Nearly Famous". The influence of Cliff Richard's music on Wido Peppinck and the self parody aspect of the name was instrumental in selection of "Nearly Famous" for the name of the new band formed in 1992 by Alison Mitchell and Wido Peppinck. In January 2003, Alison Mitchell, Wido Peppinck and Julian Peppinck, through contacts in Barbados, achieved the rare honour of meeting the famous Sir Cliff Richard during his Perth Concert tour. Despite his legendary success, Sir Cliff remains a quiet and unassuming man, and his interest in Perth's Nearly Famous, was an inspiration to the band. WHERE CAN I SEE OR HEAR "NEARLY FAMOUS"? After a successful Hotel and Tavern career in the 1990's, Nearly Famous moved almost exclusively into the private function and Corporate functions scene during the last decade. This meant that it was not easy to view the band in a public venue. However, being offered a residency on Friday nights at Mandurah’s premier hotel resort, the Atrium Hotel means that interested parties can now view the band at Pontoons Restaurant in that venue. On most weekends, the band performs elsewhere at Corporate or private functions on the Saturday night. If prospective clients are anxious to hear the band in a live situation at a Corporate or private function, arrangements to view Nearly Famous may be possible with the permission of the client on the night. If all else fails, you can download or listen to the sample MP3 medley of songs ** Our demo songs** recorded at a Perth Recording Studio in mid 2011. Rather than layering countless overdubs in the studio, we consciously tried to retain the live feel of the performances so “what you get on stage” should be similar to “what you hear”.
